Environmental Management System (EMS)
GT Environmental has developed numerous environmental management procedures including those for waste, topsoil, rehabilitation, environmental monitoring, management of unmined land, water and hydrocarbons.
GT Environmental performed key roles in the development of ISO 14000 accredited EMS at BMA Saraji and South Walker Creek Mines.
Internal audits and updates of all EMS procedures have been conducted at Saraji for the past six years.
Contaminated Land
Metallica Minerals, Norinco Project - Baseline Stage 1 ESA conducted for Greenvale site as part of their project feasibility and Environmental Impact Study.
Conducted Stage 1 contaminated land investigations at BMA Gregory and Norwich Park mines.
Olive Downs Coking Coal Project, Pembroke Resources, preliminary advice on contaminated land for EIS Assessment
Miscellaneous Projects
Acting as Peer reviewer for major BMA infrastructure projects
GT Environmental performed a range of specific environmental management related tasks for Peabody, BMA, Anglo and other mines. These include rehabilitation design plans and spoil quality assessments.
Relieving Environmental and Quality Assurance Officer
Training
Conducted awareness training for all site staff at Coronado, Saraji and South Walker. Represented various mines during EMS accreditation, DERM inspections and periodic EMS audits. Developed and conducted Supervisors Environmental Training programs at Saraji and South Walker Creek.
Trained soils staff in SCL and soils mapping. Assisted with initial mapping, BMA Caval Ridge.
Training for stripping operators, Burton Mine.
Mine Closure planning
Developed and audited Mine Closure Plans for most BMA mines. Participated in cost and risk assessments for all closure activities for BMA.
Relieving Environmental Officer
Performed relieving officer duties at Blackwater, Norwich Park, Goonyella, Saraji mines.
